Sankofa Ministry

Description: The Sankofa Ministry of NBC is based on the Adinkra symbol "sankofa" from Ghana, West Africa, which means literally, "Go back to fetch it." It is the symbol of the wisdom of learning from the past to build for the future. The Sankofa Ministry was established to celebrate our culture and heritage as people of African descent living in the Americas and members of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, which was also founded on the principles of freedom and justice. The Sankofa ministry applies Christian principles to our cultural and historical study of our past and present. it's purposes is to uplift our culture and history through inter-generational educational, cultural and spiritual activities that outreach to the NBC family, local community and global community.
